Drugs in Pregnancy (and Breastfeeding)

þ Drugs for BV:
 - after first trimester, OK to use Flagyl (per Dr. Badway at Mercy, 7/05);
   but, Metrogel doesn't work as well in pregnancy as PO Flagyl.

þ Benzodiazepines

þ Analgesics
 - ibuprofen doesn't come through in significant amounts in breast milk.
 - pyridium isn't acceptable according to many OB/GYN docs

þ Antibiotics
 - Bactrim and MacroBID should be avoided
 - Amoxicillin and Ceftin are OK.
 - for pyelo, good old Amp and Gent are a good combination per some of the
   OBs in Pittsburgh
