Herbal Teas and Remedies

þ Foxglove Tea
 - can cause digitalis toxicity

þ Jimsonweed Tea
 - anticholinergic effects may overwhelm the desired psychoactive effects.

þ Kava-kava (Kew) Tea
 - from a member of the pepper family
 - reputed to be a substitute for cocaine
 - muscle weakness from large doses
 - chronic use may cause "kawaism":  dry discolored skin, and very injected
   conjunctivae.

þ Khat Tea
 - grown in East Africa and Arabian peninsula.
 - usually chewed.
 - contains cathionone, similar to methamphetamine (related to methcathionone=
   "Cat," a designer stimulant from Russia.)
