Flexeril in Myofascial Strain study

INCLUSION CRITERIA
All DEM patients are to be included in the study if they have:
-  Acute myofascial strains due to minor trauma
EXCLUSION CRITERIA
Patients will be excluded from the study if they:
Have taken any analgesic within 4 hours of arrival to DEM
Have known:
- Pregnancy
- Lactation
- Acute Intoxication
- Suspected substance abuse
- Head injuries
- History of hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or cyclobenzaprine
Are unable to give informed consent
Have potential drug interactions from:
- Tricyclic antidepressant medications
- CNS depressants
- MAO inhibitors
Have potential anticholinergic side effects from cyclobenzaprine, patients
with known history of:
- Urinary retention
- Prostatic hypertrophy
- Cardiac dysrhythmias
- Narrow angle glaucoma
Have know history of:
- Peptic ulcer disease
- Renal insufficiency
