Clinical Syndromes of Infection
                   ===============================

þ Diarrhea
 - with stepwise fever elevation over 4-5 days; sore throat; a rash of raised,
   discrete, irregular pink blanching macules (Rose spots) on the anterior
   chest wall; and a bradycardia out of proportion to the fever
   = typhoid
   = enteric fever
   = salmonellosis

þ Fever
 - sore throat, malaise, headache, and anorexia, diffuse mucocutaneous rash
   (also involving the palms and soles), with generalized non-tender
   lymphadenopathy.
   = secondary syphilis
 - sore throat, followed by a week without symptoms, then bright red
   raised rash on the cheeks, sparing the nasolabial fold.
   = fifth disease (erythema infectiosum), caused by human parvovirus B19
