Multifocal Atrial Tachycardia
                       =============================

þ MAT etiology
 - usuall from underlying pulmonary disease

þ MAT treatment
 - treat underlying cause
 - assess for and treat hypokalemia
 - Beta-blockade (e.g. metoprolol) may convert the patient to sinus rhythm.
   Verapamil slows the ventricular rate, but is less effective in converting
   the patient to sinus rhythm. Patients rarely need these medications, as
   treatment of the underlying disease (and possibly magnesium sulfate
   therapy) is most often effective.
